Bouquet Care
Want to make your fresh flowers last?
Here are some tips!
Change the water daily
Fresh, cool water will keep them looking, well, fresh! This is the most important step in keeping fresh flowers happy.
Use cut flower food
If you purchased your bouquet at Daily Grind or a pop-up sale, your bouquet will include a packet of cut flower food. Please follow the directions on the packet.
If you would like to continue adding something extra for your flowers, try adding 1/2 teaspoon (2.84g) of sugar to the water every time you change it.
Trim the stems
Trim the stems about 1/2” (1.27cm) every 2-3 days.
Cut the stems at a 45-degree angle with gardening shears if you have them, otherwise a sharp knife or scissors will do the trick!
And remember, safety first! Please use caution when trimming the stems.
Keep your flowers in indirect light
This will keep them looking fresh longer!
Direct sunlight will cause the flowers to wilt quickly, especially in the hot summer sun.
Remove spent stems
Your bouquet will age gracefully if these tips are followed, however every stem has a different vase life, so pull out stems as they expire to keep the rest of the flowers happy and fresh.
Enjoy the subtle changes and magnificent beauty of life!
With proper care and attention, your fresh bouquet will last 7-10 days!
REALITY CHECK:
Let’s be real, yes this is the ideal care plan to make sure your fresh flowers last as long as possible but life happens, things get in the way.
It’s ok if you don’t do all of this, heck, it’s ok if you don’t do any of it and simply enjoy your flowers!
Go easy on yourself, do what you can, and come back when you’re ready for more fresh flowers!
